West Oxfordshire District Councillors

That this House congratulates those councillors on West Oxfordshire District Council who have resigned from the Conservative Party because of the poll tax; agrees with their view that Her Majesty's Government refuses to listen to those who are having to implement an unworkable tax; believes the councillors will be the first of many to desert the Conservatives on the issue; and calls on the honourable Member for Witney whose constituency covers West Oxfordshire District Council to follow his councillors' lead in putting the interests of the electors before the interests of the Conservative Party.
