Crisis In Ethiopia

That this House welcomes the visit to Ethiopia by the honourable Member for Cynon Valley from 6th to 16th February; notes that in her meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister Ashagne Yiglebi on 15th February he gave an undertaking that a new food corridor through the port of Assab could be opened for emergency food supplies into Tigray, one of the worst famine affected areas; welcomes the assurances he gave that the Ethiopian government would return to the peace talks without preconditions; urges Her Majesty's Government and the international community to do everything possible to bring the Eritreans, the Tigraians and the Ethiopian government together round the negotiating table to seek a political settlement; and calls on all humanitarian efforts to continue to prevent 4 million people starving to death.
