Council Rent Rises In Wales

EDM number 662 in 1989-90, proposed by Barry Jones on 06/03/1990.

That this House condemns the rent rises being forced on councils by the Government; notes that the Local Government and Finance Act 1989 prohibits proper non-rent funding for old people's units and homelessness; and deplores the fact that thousands of Welsh tenants are going to face unnecessary rent increases as a direct consequence of Conservative ideology.
