Local Ombudsman And Rochester Upon Medway City Council

That this House notes with extreme concern the contents of the Ombudsman's report, complaint No. 88/A/0006, regarding the actions of a Rochester Upon Medway Conservative Councillor, who is also a Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, whose actions according to the report amount to one of the most blatant breaches of the National Code of Local Government Conduct ever seen, and can only have done great harm to the reputation of the Council and to local government in general; and notes that only the actions of Liberal Democrat Councillors and the Cooling Village Action Committee exposed the undemocratic way the Conservative group was conducting its business and that the Labour group took no action prior to 1987 May elections when the Liberal Democrats were not represented on the Council.
