North Sea Pollution
EDM number 620 in 1989-90, proposed by Llin Golding on 28/02/1990.
That this House notes with concern the continued dumping of industrial wastes into the North Sea despite an agreement signed by this Government to phase out such activity by 31st December 1989; and calls upon the Environment Minister to attend the North Sea Ministers' Conference at The Hague in the Netherlands on 8th March and to join our European counterparts in ending the senseless destruction of our waters and wildlife, as the United Kingdom remains the only North Sea state to continue dumping sewage sludge and industrial waste into the sea with little regard for our environment or past agreements made.
