Testing Of Cosmetics On Animals
EDM number 612 in 1989-90, proposed by Ron Davies on 26/02/1990.
That this House notes with concern the draft European Council Directive on the testing on animals of new cosmetic ingredients; salutes the record of The Body Shop, Beauty Without Cruelty and Crabtree and Evelyn in promoting cosmetics which have not been tested on animals; applauds such initiatives in the interests of animal welfare and consumer choice; believes that the cosmetics industry should be reducing, not increasing, the practice of product testing on animals; and calls on the Government to resist the draft Directive at every opportunity.
