Aircraft Noise

EDM number 603 in 1989-90, proposed by Toby Jessel on 22/02/1990.

That this House deplores the decision of the European Court of Human Rights in the case of Powell v. Rayner which denies hundreds of thousands of people living near Heathrow, Gatwick and other airports who suffer from airport noise, the right to sue for nuisance, so that they have no legal remedy; takes note that the Conservative Government has a better record on aircraft noise than any other, having refused planning permission for a fifth terminal at Heathrow, stopped the Heathrow-Gatwick helicopter link and curtailed the number of night flights; but urges further action to speed the introduction of quieter engines and a complete ban on night flights.

This motion has been signed by a total of 3 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
