South African Sanctions;amdt. Line 2:

EDM number 588A1 in 1989-90, proposed by Jonathan Aitken on 21/02/1990.

Leave out from 'pressures' to end and add 'while appreciating that there may be arguments for and against sanctions against South Africa, regards the decision of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the EEC on 19th February as hypocrisy and humbug in light of the widespread evasion of sanctions agreed under EEC legislation; and calls upon Mr. Jacques Delors to initiate an immediate inquiry into the reasons why the Federal Republic of Germany has now become South Africa's principal trading partner despite that nation's powerful advocacy that other member states should restrict trade with South Africa.
