Need For A Tourism Ombudsman
EDM number 56 in 1989-90, proposed by Tim Rathbone on 23/11/1989.
That this House calls for the urgent appointment of a Tourism Ombudsman, along the lines of the Banking, Insurance and Building Societies Ombudsmen, to investigate independently the many complaints holidaymakers have with their tour operators and agents and to award proper compensation and penalise those who have not given a satisfactory service; and notes that even delegates attending the annual convention of the Association of British Travel Agents suffered from over-booked hotels, delayed luggage and flight cancellations.
This motion has been signed by a total of 48 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
