Education In Bradford

EDM number 537 in 1989-90, proposed by Max Madden on 14/02/1990.

That this House urges Conservative councillors in Bradford to resist further cuts in the district's education budget; notes with great anxiety reports that Bradford's education budget may be slashed by between ú6million and ú24million; notes such further cuts would further diminish the quality of education in Bradford and would result inevitably in the redundancy of teachers and other staff, increasing classes and worsening still further problems arising from low teacher morale, equipment and book shortages and crumbling schools; and believes it immoral that children, whose parents and brothers and sisters over 18 years will be adversely effected by the poll tax, should become victims of education cuts only imposed to keep down the poll tax in Bradford.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
