Poland (No. 1)

That this House welcomes the visit to Britain of the Prime Minister of Poland, Mr Tadeusz Mazowiecki; notes that the Polish government has expressed its intention of introducing the Thatcherite economic policies of deregulation, privatisation and the control of inflation; welcomes Her Majesty's Government contribution to Poland's free market revolution through the know-how fund; recognises the contribution already being made by free market think tanks to the process of economic reform in Poland; and urges the Polish government to adopt a system of contract law and individual property rights at the earliest opportunity so that Western investment will be attracted into that country.
