Leicester Mercury Campaign For Leicestershire Woodland

EDM number 462 in 1989-90, proposed by Keith Vaz on 06/02/1990.

That this House congratulates the Leicester Mercury and the 10,398 people of Leicestershire who voted Yes on the Mercury Woodland Campaign to establish a woodland in the county; considers that the establishment of such a woodland would be in keeping with the positive and constructive environmental policies of Leicester City Council and Leicestershire County Council; believes that the woodland would add greatly to the quality of life in the area and boost the East Midlands as a major area of tourism; notes the fact that honourable Members on both sides of the House support this campaign; and therefore calls on the Countryside Commissioners to allocate a new woodlands forest to Leicestershire.

This motion has been signed by a total of 18 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
