Management Behaviour At Vnu

EDM number 421 in 1989-90, proposed by Austin Mitchell on 31/01/1990.

That this House condemns the behaviour of management at VNU business publications in summarily dismissing its entire staff of journalists, attempting to impose inferior individual contacts, and insulting the intelligence of its readership by attempting to publish Accountancy Age, Computing, Management Consultancy and other specialised periodicals without journalists; and draws attention to the fact that as a subsidiary of a Dutch group, VNU would not be able to behave in such an uncivilised and unacceptable way in Holland or other parts of the European Community and should not attempt to do so here.
