Land At Woodgreen Walk And British Rail
EDM number 354 in 1989-90, proposed by Keith Vaz on 22/01/1990.
That this House deplores the continued failure of the British Railways Board to resolve the longstanding issue of the land adjacent to the Leicester to Nottingham line near Woodgreen Walk, West Humberstone, Leicester; notes that for several years the Board has failed to act on requests by local residents and their elected representatives to properly fence the track which is now exposed and a danger to local people, especially children; is appalled at its refusal to clear up and maintain its embankment which particularly in the summer months is a potential fire hazard; regards its inactivity as a breach of its duties statutorily and in terms of its duties to local residents; and calls upon the Secretary of State for Transport to immediately commission a report into this disgraceful state of affairs.
