"world In Action" (No.2)
EDM number 325 in 1989-90, proposed by John Carlisle on 17/01/1990.
That this House is further concerned that Granada Television compounded a felony by assisting Mr Peter Hain to enter South Africa illegally to take part in the 'World in Action' programme 'Return of the Rebel'; believes that Mr Hain travelled under a false name or changed his name by deed poll, did not apply for or obtain a permit for employment legally required by journalists or media participants working in South Africa and made a false statement at the point of arrival; and calls upon the Independent Broadcasting Authority to make immediate investigations into the ethical and legal responsibilities of Granada Television for making a programme under such conditions while sponsoring the illegal activities of a British citizen with obvious intent to deceive the British viewing public.
This motion has been signed by a total of 7 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
