Trade Union Rights

EDM number 282 in 1989-90, proposed by Dawn Primarolo on 10/01/1990.

That this House believes that 100 per cent. trades unionism, namely the closed shop, is of fundamental importance to the workers and the trades union movement, further believes the closed shop is a fundamental right, long accepted in Britain by workers who believe that the real defence of workers' interests is trade union organisation; and is therefore totally opposed to those employers and Governments who are basically opposed to the principle of trades unions and who wish to destroy them as organisations who defend workers' rights.

This motion has been signed by a total of 27 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
