Liberal Democrats And The Nus (No. 2)
EDM number 234 in 1989-90, proposed by Simon Hughes on 18/12/1989.
That this House congratulates Tim Farron, the Liberal Democrat candidate, on his successful election to the National Union of Students' National Executive, beating as he did the National Organisation of Labour Students candidate; and notes that the defeated National Organisation of Labour Students candidate received the official endorsement of the Right honourable Member for Islwyn, and that the equivocal statements by the Labour Party on student grants set against the Liberal Democrats' clear commitment to full student grants was a decisive factor in Mr Farron's success.
This motion has been signed by a total of 9 MPs.
