Supply Of Ombudsman"s Reports
EDM number 197 in 1989-90, proposed by Alun Michael on 13/12/1989.
That this House notes the importance and significance of the Ombudsman's report on the part played by the Department of Trade and Industry in the Barlow Clowes scandal, the long period over which Government Ministers have failed to take action on the positive proposals put forward by honourable Members, and the fact that after such a long delay constituents will reasonably expect to read the report and its findings for themselves; and calls on the Ombudsman to follow normal practice and, on the date his report is published, to supply each honourable Member who referred cases to him with a copy of the report for each case referred, plus a copy for retention and use by the honourable Member.
