United Nations Convention On Rights Of The Child

EDM number 15 in 1989-90, proposed by Ronnie Fearn on 21/11/1989.

That this House notes the 30th anniversary of the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of the Child; welcomes the adoption by the United Nations of the Convention on the Rights of the Child; and calls upon the British Government to establish new standards of children's rights by being amongst the first 20 governments to sign and ratify the Convention, thereby ensuring that the Convention comes into force in international law.
