Liverpool Land Deals

EDM number 1479 in 1989-90, proposed by David Alton on 31/10/1990.

That this House deplores the decision of Liverpool City Council to proceed with the sale of further sites which are the subject of continuing police investigations; notes that the city debt is more than ú750 million; believes urgent discussions should be held between Ministers and council leaders to try and find ways of resolving the financial crisis, which do not involve the sale of the city's birth-right to speculators and developers; calls for a freeze on sales and the continuation of this moratorium until police enquiries are completed; and welcomes the actions of the Merseyside Police in investigating allegations first made in the Liverpool Echo and in this House five years ago.

This motion has been signed by a total of 1 MPs.
