Incontinence Pads In Private Nursing Homes

EDM number 1478 in 1989-90, proposed by Harry Barnes on 30/10/1990.

That this House notes with grave concern the unfair anomaly in the way that people are treated in private as opposed to public nursing homes in that incontinence pads are supplied free by local health authorities to those who are looked after in their homes or in a National Health Service hospital but not to patients in private nursing homes, whose fees are paid by the state; further recognises that relatives often have to buy these expensive but medically vital items or that the resident has to take it out of their small weekly allowance; and therefore urges the Government to provide local health authorities to use their discretion in supplyng incontinence pads free of charge to all residents whose fees are paid out of public funds.

This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
