British Deafness Awareness Week

That this House notes that 28th October to 4th November is British Deafness Awareness Week; congratulates the British Deaf Association on its centenary, welcomes the publication of the British Deaf Association's Manifesto 2000; acknowledges the rights of deaf people to full equality in education and employment, and as consumers and citizens in the community; recognises the need of deaf people to have access to information through the use of sign language; and urges the Government to enable deaf people to have equality in further education training and employment through the provision of sign language interpreters.
