Trade Unions At Gchq
EDM number 1451 in 1989-90, proposed by John McAllion on 24/10/1990.
That this House notes the decision of the Staff Federation at GCHQ to develop outside links with another trade union affiliated to the Labour Party; recognises that this represents an important first step towards the eventual revoking of the ban on unions at GCHQ; welcomes the Government's tolerance of re-emerging trade unionism at GCHQ as a sign of a major policy u-turn; and calls upon the Government to confirm that trade union certification of the Staff Federation will mark the end of the ban on free and independent trade unionism at GCHQ.
