Grampian Health Board Chairman And The Conservative Party
EDM number 1448 in 1989-90, proposed by Malcolm Bruce on 24/10/1990.
That this House deplores the participation of the Chairman of Grampian Health Board, Mr James Kyle, in a panel discussion organised by Gordon Conservatives at which an entrance fee of ú2 was charged at the door, believing that the chairman of a health board should not be involved in party political fund raising; notes that his appearance on a public platform contrasts sharply with constraints on health service staff to prevent them talking to the press, public or honourable Members; but recognises that this only confirms that health board chairmen are appointed by the Secretary of State to implement Tory directives regardless of the views of local people who use and pay for the health service.
