Hosiery And Knitwear Industry

That this House supports the National Union of Hosiery and Knitwear Industry demands that the Multi-Fibre Arrangement be renewed including effective provisions to stop cheap clothing and textiles products, resulting from unfair international trading practices, flooding our home market; believes that failure to do so will damage proper commercial competition at national and international levels; is sadly aware that international trading practices, which should not be allowed, have already cost the United Kingdom 15,000 trading jobs since 1988; and demands that Her Majesty's Government discharge their duty by properly representing the legitimate interests of the United Kingdom and its hosiery and knitwear industry, thus protecting its 65,000 workers.
