Job Losses In Calderdale (No. 2)

EDM number 1424 in 1989-90, proposed by Alice Mahon on 18/10/1990.

That this House is shocked at the loss of over 2,000 jobs in manufacturing in Calderdale during 1990; notes that many more jobs are at risk because of Government policies; and calls upon the Government to abandon its disastrous policy of high interest rates and implement a coherent economic strategy to develop and re-build the manufacturing base.
