Rights Of Disabled People
EDM number 1422 in 1989-90, proposed by Joan Walley on 17/10/1990.
That this House calls for full recognition of the extra costs facing disabled people from all over the country and demands that the Government provides a credible disability income; condemns present Government policies that have led to cuts in benefits, poll tax charges and inflation resulting in thousands of disabled people living in poverty and having to turn to charities to meet their basic needs; and gives its full support to the 15,000 disabled people who will be taking part in simultaneous rallies in Manchester, Glasgow and London on 20th October for the right to take a full and equal part in society instead of a reliance on charity.
