The Prime Minister's Pankhurst Lecture;Amdt. line 1:

EDM number 1316A2 in 1989-90, proposed by Maria Fyfe on 23/07/1990.

Leave out from 'in' to end and add 'low paid, part-time work than ever before, that the Government's concern for the family has been well demonstrated by abolition of maternity grants, exclusion of two-thirds of women in part-time jobs from maternity benefit, and the worst maternity leave in the European Community, freezing of child benefit for three years and abolition of free schools meals, over six million adults and children living on or below supplementary benefit level, more mothers than ever forced to bring up children single handed while fathers work away from home, families facing enforcement action for poll tax bills they cannot afford to pay, and now the two-year delay in implementing community care reform; notes that the much acclaimed insistence on fathers paying maintenance will benefit the Department of Social Security budget more than single mothers on income support whose benefits will simply be reduced; and wonders what new miseries the Government can be planning to inflict on families in Britain.'.

This is a ammendment to 1316.
