Department Of Social Security Reorganisation

That this House condemns the reported intention of the Department of Social Security to close its headquarters facility in Gabalfa, Cardiff; notes that this would affect at least 400 jobs, and would lead to a deterioration in the service of the Department of Social Security in local communities in Wales, especially in rural areas; calls for the territorial integrity of Wales to be respected in any reorganisation by Government departments; and urges the Government to guarantee that Wales will be treated as a nation in its own right with Government departments organised on the same boundaries as the Welsh Office, and a career structure offering posts within Wales.
