Vetting Prior To Privatisation

That this House calls for the suspension of plans to privatise the ten water authorities as a result of recent revelations on the ú38 million 'sweetener' paid to ease the Rover Group sell-off to British Aerospace; calls on Her Majesty's Government to introduce thorough and open vetting of all privatisation deals in advance of flotation; and welcomes the intention of the European Community to probe into the Rover sale as a means to prevent future attempts at wholesale asset-stripping.
