Equal Pay

That this House believes that the NHS Ancillary Staff Council Job Evaluation Scheme, which sets pay and conditions for ancillary workers in the NHS, systematically discriminates against women and, thus, contravenes existing United Kingdom and European Comunity law on equal pay for work of equal value; considers that, as a result, the pay of women employed as domestic assistants, CSSD assistants and many other jobs does not reflect the value of their work; and urges the Minister for Health to instruct the Ancillary Staff Council Employers' Side to negotiate in good faith swiftly to replace the scheme with another within which equal value factors apply.
