That this House deplores the enormous discrepancies in marking students between G.S.C.E. English Language and Literature papers in 1989 by the Midlands Examining Group in many schools; believes that this body should review its marking procedures and standards of examiners without delay; and further deplores great discrepancies in results between schools which are not explained by the aptitudes of the pupils and standards involved.
