Air Flight And Cabin Crew Fatigue Regulations

That this House expresses its grave concern at the decision of the Civil Aviation Authority to enforce alarmingly high limits of working hours on aircraft and cabin crew staffs and that the new limits of 190 hours for flight crew and 210 hours for cabin crew over a 28 day period is higher than the limit of 120 hours recommended by the Royal Air Force Institute for Aviation Medicine; further notes that new CAP 371 regulations have been introduced despite the widespread views expressed at the Kegworth M1 disaster inquiry that fatigue played a significant factor in the tragedy; and calls upon the Secretary of State for Transport to act immediately to prevent the Civil Aviation Authority from implementing such unsafe working practices, in order to prevent a further air disaster caused by crew fatigue.
