Rtz Exploration Project In Omagh

EDM number 1112 in 1989-90, proposed by Dafydd Wigley on 14/06/1990.

That this House is deeply concerned with the environmental and social impact of the recent multinational-led gold-rush in Ireland; notes in particular the Rio Tinto Zinc exploration project at Cavancaw, County Tyrone, where a huge trench has been dug only 140 metres from human habitation, and 40,000 tonnes of farmland removed; further notes the opposition to the project from all members of the local Omagh Council; and calls on RTZ, as a company which prides itself on 'investing in the well-being of local communities', to withdraw from the Omagh project.

This motion has been signed by a total of 18 MPs.
