Scottish Flanders Alliance And Aid To Romania

EDM number 1087 in 1989-90, proposed by Margaret Ewing on 07/06/1990.

That this House congratulates the Scottish Flanders Alliance in their continuing endeavours in providing assistance to children in Romania; notes that they now plan a mercy mission to Romania leaving the United Kingdom on 12th June for the purpose of visiting several orphanages in the north eastern town of Botosani, at the epicentre of the massive earthquake at the end of last month; calls upon the Government to provide immediate emergency assistance to the Flanders Scottish Alliance, cognisant of the fact that the charity provides aid and assistance directly to the recipient, and taking into account its excellent track record; and further calls upon the Government to provide in Scotland a secure store to house the supplies of drugs, medical equipment and other supplies which have been raised by the charity.
