Return Of Cruise Missiles To Europe

EDM number 1060 in 1989-90, proposed by Max Madden on 05/06/1990.

That this House condemns the actions of Her Majesty's Government in its decision to sign the NATO memorandum of agreement taking the secret decision to assign United States nuclear armed sea launched cruise missiles to Europe, as revealed by Admiral Trost before the United States Armed Services Committee on 4th May 1989, without reference to Parliament, in direct contravention to the spirit of the Intermediate Nuclear Forces agreement; and further calls upon Her Majesty's Government not to allow the use of the United States Navy submarine base at Holy Loch, Scotland, for the support of the United States Navy submarines carrying nuclear armed sea launched cruise missiles.
