Sheffield District And Trent Regional Health Authorities
EDM number 1019 in 1989-90, proposed by Bill Michie on 17/05/1990.
That this House is appalled by the decision of Sheffield Health Authority to close Lodge Moor Hospital, which has the second largest Spinal Injury Unit in England, and which is the only hospital in Sheffield and the surrounding district with a helicopter pad on site for safer transfer of patients with spinal and other severe injuries; considers this is just one more drastic measure to be taken in the re-organisation of health services in Sheffield, which will also see the closure of the King Edward VII Hospital; and even at this late stage calls on the Sheffield Health Authority and the Trent Regional Health Authority to reconsider the proposed closure of Lodge Moor Hospital and King Edward VII Hospital and to listen to the concern of the thousands of people who have written letters and signed petitions in an effort to keep open these two hospitals, which incorporate facilities not found in other hospitals in the Sheffield area.
