Healthy Homes And Buildings

EDM number 254 in 2017-19, proposed by Jim Shannon on 05/09/2017.
Categorised under the topics of Construction industry, Housing, Housing standards and Pollution.

That this House welcomes the report Building our Future: Laying the Foundations for Healthy Homes and Buildings, published by the APPG for Healthy Homes and Buildings in July 2017 which provides key insights into how the UK can improve the safety, comfort and energy efficiency of homes; believes that successive governments' approaches to healthy homes and buildings have been disjointed and that a cross-departmental committee for health and buildings should be established; further believes that building design and delivery should be considered holistically with air quality and ventilation, lighting and acoustics considered throughout construction; believes that the construction sector needs to be upskilled in order to do this; and believes that there is a need for better public awareness of the link between the built environment and lifestyles, health and wellbeing.
